**Meat Rack**
Set in the pre-condom era, *The Meat Rack* is a compelling drama that explores the sordid life of a young bisexual man involved in male prostitution. The story begins with him hitchhiking to San Francisco and being immediately picked up by a salivating older man. The curly-haired, tight-jeaned J.C. serves as an intriguing case study of alienation and sexual denial/confusion.
Similar to Joe Buck in *Midnight Cowboy* and Joe Dallesandro in *Flesh*, J.T. embarks on a fee-paying sexual odyssey, encountering a range of clients, all portrayed in an unflattering light. His only glimpse of happiness comes when he falls in love with innocent Jane, but like many urban tales about life on the fringe, this happiness is fleeting. Although it leans heavily into a moralistic "woe is me, the homosexual" narrative, this time capsule remains watchable and, at times, eye-opening.
