Long ago, around 1878, in the Perigord region of central France an innocent young man, who was a pauper and a beggar, was robbed of his last coins by a parish priest who was, beneath his pious demeanor, a greedy miser whose only goal in life was avarice: the obscene acquisition of wealth.
